Anita is the 2009 Possum Queen of Montgomery County!

All Hail The Possum Queen!

4th of July 4-wheeler parade

Trim is going in, and lots of rip-rap on the ground.

By the end of this week, we hope all doors upstairs and in the basement will have been hung, and all of the windows and doors will have been trimmed. The next work inside will be to "turn the painters loose". Don't expect to see lots of wild colors; we couldn't make up our minds, so everything will be the same color inside until we start acquiring furniture. Paint is easy (isn't it?)!

As of 2004, Anita and Dan are now the proud owners of two adjacent lots in the "Harbor South" development bordering Mountain Harbor Resort, near Mount Ida, Montgomery County, Arkansas.

We were in Arkansas to stomp around the lots from Christmas day, 2004, until we had to return to California on Jan. 4, 2005. Here are a bunch of pictures of the lot taken during that visit.

The following picture, taken from the airplane during our flight home after our wedding at Mountain Harbor on Sept. 16, 2000, shows the area. Somewhere near the bottom center of the photograph is our property. We are working on a plan to build a home there while we continue to work remotely for our Silicon Valley employers.

The picture below shows the main channel of the Ouachita River (above) and the "south fork" (below). The buildings you see in the bottom center of the photo are mostly boat docks owned by Mountain Harbor Resort, the largest of a handfull of such places on the lake. Other than the few resorts, Lake Ouachita is all wilderness shoreline.

Lake Ouachita, Arkansas

Note that Mount Ida is not the same as "Mount Idy", which was the fictional Ohio home town of Charlie Weaver ( Cliff Arquette ), although the name is said to have been inspired by Mount Ida. See this.
