This is the entire purpose of this domain. Anita and Dan had a goal of being real Sail Boat Cruisers when this site was created, not just "wannabe's" like they are now. However, plans change, and we are now looking at doing mostly trailer-sailing on the lakes around our new home in west-central Arkansas. Our home port will be Lake Ouachita. The boat we are interested in purchasing "one of these days" is the Catalina 250 water ballast model.
Bob and Barb remain our sailing heros, however, even though they are ready to fold up their sails and sell Freya.
Now that we have moved to Arkansas and will be living near a number of beautiful lakes,
the concept of just having one boat is starting to evade us (Dan, at least). A friend has a party
barge for sale at Mountain Harbor that we are considering purchasing. Click
here for a few photos of that beauty.
Dan is AC6PI. He's been quite inactive for a while, but when the spirit moves, he likes
to operate low power ("QRP") CW utilizing transceivers built from kits. You can look up "AC6PI"
on the QRZ web site for more information.
What's long and hard on a boy from Arkansas? Third grade! That, and learning to play
guitar, which I've been trying to do for some number of years. I have mostly been learning
bluegrass flatpicking, although I've tried my hand at fingerstyle and other forms of blues as
well. Listening to a practice session is not for the faint of heart. I was once keeping a friend's
dog while they were out of town -- a Sheltie. This blasted mutt must have been a little too
sensitive to good music, for when I sat down to practice, the darned dog tried to bite the
guitar! And, I hadn't even started to sing!
While this is not a passion to the degree we expect to fill up basements with model railroads, we have begun a project to build a small N-guage layout from a kit.
Update 7/30/05: Not much progress, but we continue to have the best of intentions to
finish our project. It will have to wait until our home is completed in Arkansas. In the mean time,
we still have a little N-gauge set to run around the Christmas tree!
This hobby is definitely on hold. But, there are closets full of unbuilt kits awaiting available
time and the spirit to move.
